An estimated 1,000 seventh and eighth-grade students from throughout the Metro East got a chance to check out the construction trades during the 11th annual Southern Illinois Builders Association's career expo, held Tuesday through Wednesday, Oct. 20-22, 2009 at Gateway Center in Collinsville. The annual event gives the students a chance to get a hands-on look at various trades, including carpentry, electronics, bricklaying, and ironworking.
